Markree Castle, with its relaxed atmosphere, picture-perfect 500-acre grounds and luxury accommodation, provides the ideal location to celebrate a wedding, and the freedom to create a wedding you have always dreamed of. 

On your wedding day, arrive by wedding car or if you want something more unique, arrive by boat to our boathouse, or by horse and carriage or on horseback through our ‘port la couer’ at the front of the castle. 

Part of the uniqueness of Markree is that you and your guests use Markree as you would your own home, with a drinks’ reception in the Grand Hall in front of the fire, a five-course banquet in our unique individual adjoining dining rooms and dancing in the specially designed entertainment suite, which features a Gin and Whiskey bar. It’s like a house party in a castle!

All set on a tranquil 310-acre private island that is accessible only by exclusive resort car ferry. The Resort is an Island getaway that's not so far away - centrally located just 10 minutes drive from Waterford City.

The Island Resort is truly unique, being the only one of its kind in Ireland. The 310-acre Island is home to a variety of Irish flora and fauna including red squirrels, foxes, badgers and our herd of wild Sika deer.

The Island Resort is owned by local businessman Seamus Walsh since 2016, who has since refurbished many aspects of the property, with more plans for the future including spa facilities. Mr Walsh is also the owner of One the Waterfront, a modern and vibrant seaside venue in nearby Tramore.
